HQ newsletter – 3rd ed. – rock climbing, lunches and a WHOLE whack of events

Third Edition

We’re off to the Hunter Valley for the iMedia Summit next week but in the mean time here’s what’s been a-happening…

Rock climbing

Current office food trends

Rock climbing

Annick, Colby, Lucy and Sarah went rock climbing after work the other Friday. We were at ClimbFit in St Leonards, Sarah and Colby had done a bit of climbing before. Lucy did some when she was about ten. Annick was completely fresh. So, we started on the green trails (it goes green, blue, yellow, red, black for difficulty). We all reckoned we shot up the first wall. Granted we used whatever colour came to hand or foot, and probably we broke a dozen ‘rules’ and definitely looked rubbish, but, we’d been up and down, in one piece.
And so we carried on. Challenging ourselves to only use the colours we were supposed to, working up to blue, attempting some of the walls that angled back towards the ground… Sarah was a gun. Colby had guts. Annick is just chic and charming at everything she does. Lucy tried.
Post match we hit Montezuma’s for carbo reloading and ‘the Best Margaritas in Australia’ sweeeet.

Sunday Lunch

A beautiful Sydney spring Sunday, Colby, Lucy, Sarah and Tim went to the Tilbury in Woolloomoolloo for a nice lunch with a crowd of friends. Delicious set menu, plentiful grape juice and lots of banter. Fun Sunday.

Sarah’s social life

The 2nd monthly agency vs agency ping pong tournament (#SMPP) took place on Tuesday this week at Dr Pong. New faces & agencies were in tow, the competition is definitely heating up. There was blood sweat and tears but in the end, Daemon took home the trophy…with the help of a certain @SarahPea
<
Sarah has also take up art classes. She’s two in and feeling ok for never having painted before (although she feels the creativity would be flowing more if the wine was too). It’s a new type of art every four weeks, so a picture of the final work of art will be in the next edition… I know you’re all on the edge of your seats.

What’s happening at work

Next week is the iMedia Brand Summit. This week we’ve been putting final touches to the Summit, dealing with logistics, booking the wine… you know it. We’ve got a record number of brand delegates and networkers, Tim entirely sold out of sponsorship and Lucy has programmed ‘the best’ agenda, it’s going to be an outstanding event, we’re looking forward to it.

Yesterday we launched the ad:tech University…. Because we just don’t have enough in our portfolio :) You can see all the details here. It’s a great addition to our calendar and thanks to Sarah’s marketing awesomeness we already got our first bookings, yee ha.

No, that’s not all…. Next week we also have the club ad:tech breakfast briefing. Thursday. 8am. Hilton. Wow, we’re exhausted thinking about next week, but it’s going to be awesome.

Current office food trends

  • 100 Pacific does a good line in risotto and pasta dishes that have been gracing our desks lately (rushed lunchtimes us, recently, surely not)
  • Sarah has been diggin the MLC plaza thai stir fry – select your own veg, noodle type and sauce. This girl loves to make her own combo.
  • The Toblerone is all finished :(
  • With events a-plenty, red wine has been making a regular appearance in the office (it’s a creative stimulant). Current drops we’re enjoying are Pepperjack Shiraz and a Chilean Malbec
  • Australia is full of people who are mental about food, and coffee, and booze. Tell us your latest food obsession here, we might talk about it, we might try it, we might share it with everyone.

Cheers,

The ad:tech Team

Nice to see that Daemon made the newsletter – great to see what you guys are up to. Food trends in the @DaemonTWO office have seen a recent increase in the consumption of goji berries, which have a questionable taste but are apparently very good for you – the jury is still out on this one!
