One useful application of this topic is profile based filtering. Let's take a look at the restaurant reviews - I'm not particularly interested if 100 anonymous people review a restaurant. I am however extremely interested in the 2-3 people who have the same preferences and constraints as I do - for a business lunch, these are ...

1. Food must be 7/10 or better
2. Conversational noise level
3. 1 hour turnaround
4. within 1-2Km of where I am

This profile information may not necessarily be stored on a restaurant review site but if there's a link to a deeper profile somewhere (be it facebook, myspace, google or pureprofile) then it opens the opportunity to create value for a micro markets. I would love and even pay for a service to pull in all reviews written by people with my profile filter.

We need to start thinking about ways to let intelligent agents (or a personal digital concierge) to traverse semantic information and then make it relevant to us - through profile based filters.

@arthur_alston Ignorance is still going to be an issue, I suggest you cover the basics, then review current solutions. http://rurl.org/178f
